Remove Stains From Your Teeth

1. Natural or Home Methods

These methods are a great way to get rid of stains on teeth for cheap or even free. Most are fairly gentle and not very strong, so these methods would suit people with light stains, such as the typical darkness between the front teeth, or small patches of yellow or brown on an individual tooth.

Some natural methods you can try include strawberries, which contain an enzyme that naturally whitens teeth. You can simply ad more strawberries to your diet, and rub the fruit on the stained areas while you eat, or your can mash them (remove the seeds if possible) and brush with them just like normal toothpaste.

Remember to brush your teeth with normal toothpaste afterwards, as strawberries do contain a little sugar, and the seeds can also be abrasive if you didn't remove them.

Another quick natural fix is to add baking soda to your toothpaste. This really helps the penetrating power of the mixture, letting it get deep into the enamel and tackle stains much more effectively.

2. Whitening Toothpastes

These toothpastes are pre formulated with whitening ingredients, some of which include peroxide, sodium bicarbonate, boosted fluoride, abrasive beads, and a number of other ingredients. These toothpastes may contain one or a mixture of the above ingredients. They are a bit more expensive than regular toothpaste, and some may have to be purchased through your dentist, but they can be very effective at helping to remove stains from teeth.
These toothpastes may be what you are looking for if you have larger or multiple teeth stains.

3. Teeth Whitening Treatments

If you have larger teeth stains, lots of stains and discoloration, or you just want the most effective solution in the shortest amount of time, your best bet is to investing in a teeth whitening treatment. These kits can be bought online, in the supermarket or from your dentist.
The first advice is to forget the supermarket variety. They are weak, take a long time to show results, and you can get better results with whitening toothpaste for much cheaper. The best ones come from your dentist (and cost a lot!) or, you can buy the same dentist grade kits online for much cheaper, and this is the option most people go for.
These kits can be a whitening tray system, where a gel is applied to a teeth tray, which is then fitted over the teeth and worn for a period of a few hours, or a scrub and swab system, where a gel is applied to the teeth with a brush or swab in a similar manner to brushing.
Both of these methods have comparable results, so get searching and find the one that is more convenient for you and your wallet. The whitening kits available online today are very affordable, and offer a whitening that rivals the very expensive dental treatment, and they are super effective at removing teeth stains.

Dental Care.

Brushing Proper brushing is essential for cleaning teeth and gums effectively. Use a toothbrush with soft, nylon, round-ended bristles that will not scratch and irritate teeth or damage gums. Remember to replace your toothbrush every three to four months. Researchers have established that thousands of microbes grow on toothbrush bristles and handles. Some of them can cause cold and flu.

Flossing
There is no better way to clean the sides of your teeth than DENTAL FLOSS. This method is Inexpensive, readily available and easy to use. It is always an excellent tool in the fight against dental decay and periodontal disease. There are many types of dental floss available in your local drugstore.

Tooth Whitening

Mostly stains on teeth are caused by age, tobacco, coffee, or tea. Bleaching is effective in lightning most stains caused by age, tobacco, coffee, and tea. Based on clinical studies, 96 percent of patients with these kinds of stains experience some lightening effect. While some whitening toothpastes effectively keep the teeth cleaner and, therefore, looking whiter, some are more abrasive than others. The stronger toothpastes rely on abrasion to remove external stains as opposed to actually changing the color of teeth. Before applying anything consult your oral health care professional for advice.

Sparkling White Teeth

Do you think it's possible to smile widely and be confident that your teeth are sparkling white? The answer is ‘Yes and without spending a fortune on dental cosmetics!’ What we need are ingredients, which are simple to use and are easily available.

Do’s:

Rubbing the inside fibrous part of the peel, of a ripe banana, makes your teeth sparkle.

Juice of half a lemon when rubbed firmly but gently on the teeth removes yellow stains and tartar.

Half a teaspoon of baking soda to which a pinch of salt is added and rubbed on the teeth with a fingertip shows excellent results.

Strawberries are very good for whitening teeth. They can be rubbed on the teeth in pureed form or cut into halves and used.

For quick results dip your toothbrush in hydrogen peroxide and then gently brush the teeth.

Table salt may be used to rub stains off the teeth. Use fingertips for best results.

Use the inside of an orange peel to rub the teeth for good results.

Munching on crunchy fruits and vegetables like apples, carrots, cucumber, celery and parsley help in removing stains on teeth.

Don’ts:

Fizzy drinks peel away the tooth enamel due to the acids in them and make the teeth weak and yellowish.

Drugs like cocaine, ecstasy, etc, are not only bad for health but also have a telling affect on the teeth as they restrict blood flow to the gums and cause extensive gum damage.

Smoking is also a major don’t for dental health as well as for general health. Nicotine leaves a residue on teeth causing yellowish stains on them.

Dark colored juices, like cranberry juice, leave stains on teeth due to the pigment and sugar they contain. Drink such juices with a straw.

Black coffee is also a culprit against sparkling, white teeth.

Tomato sauce and balsamic vinegar are said to cause staining of teeth.

Red wine is said to stain the teeth as well as wear away tooth enamel. It is easiest to swish some plain water in the mouth while at parties.

It is better to drink green tea or herbal tea as black tea does cause some staining on the teeth.

Are You Truly Brushing Your Teeth?

Can you honestly say that you know how to brush your teeth? As adults, we have neglected to keep in mind how to truly brush your teeth as we grew older. I recently took a minor dental assisting class and I was surprised to find out that the first lesson we covered was how to brush your teeth. At first thought, I thought the lesson was silly to be teaching us adults, but in the end, I was astonished to find out how after many years, I have been brushing my teeth wrongly.

Toothbrush (Photo credit: James Bowe)

Our lesson started off with the instructor having all the students brush their teeth. All of us finished within a minute or so. Afterwards, we were all given disclosing tablets to reveal how well we all brushed our teeth. Disclosing tablets are chewable tablets which make dental plaque visible. In this case, if you saw pink on your teeth, then that pink subtance was visible plaque. Now came the shocking part of the lesson. Despite all us students brushing our teeth beforehand, we were amazed to see that we all had pink covering various areas of our teeth. How was this possible when we had brushed our teeth though? All the student adults in our class have brushed their teeth wrongly.

Our instructor now lectured us on how to brush our teeth, and by this time, we were all very interested compared to how uninterested we were in the beginning of the lesson:

1) Your toothbrush should be labeled as soft bristled. Soft bristled tooth brushes work the best and they ensure that you don't erode your gums away when brushing.

2) When you brush, brush in circular motions and pretend your wiping your teeth clean. There is no need to vigorously brush your teeth, just lightly brush in smooth circular motions.

3) Apply your small pea sized tooth paste amount and begin brushing in the upper left back portion of your teeth.

4) Turn your toothbrush parallel and brush two teeth at a time. The areas you want to work most on are the chewing surfaces (occlusal surfaces), between teeth, and "underneath" the gums. Turn your toothbrush in 45 degree angles in order to brush underneath the gums.

5) From the upper left portion, you will brush to the upper right portion; then from the upper right portion of your mouth, you will brush the lower right portion of your mouth, then finally end in the lower left portion of your mouth.

6) The time it takes to brush your teeth is between 2-3 minutes long. Most people spend less than a minute brushing their teeth. Take time brushing each of your individual teeth the next time you brush.

7) It does not matter which toothpaste you use just as long the toothpaste contains fluoride. It does not matter whether you floss before or after you brush your teeth as well.

The next time you brush your teeth, keep in mind the steps I have learned on how to truly brush your teeth!

Teeth Whitening Home Remedies

Teeth become yellow and pale due to age, consumption of tea and coffee, tobacco and cigarette. People who get their teeth yellow get teeth polish or tooth bleach done to remove the tarter from the teeth, which makes them appear pale and dull in the color. Professional dentist do the cleaning of the teeth with many sittings. But further consumption of the tea, coffee and tobacco keeps making the teeth pale.

So one time cleaning can never keep the clean permanently. One requires teeth cleaning done many times in life if one wants the teeth to look pearl white. Some home remedies help to keep the teeth white in color to some extent, which can be applied on everybody's teeth except the sensitive teeth. As people with sensitive teeth don't know what is going to affect their teeth. You can try these home remedies to whiten the pale and yellow teeth to some extent.
