Home Remedy How to :- Soft lips
Hey Lovelies! We've done a bunch of posts recently on how to dress up your lips for the holidays, but we haven't talked about what you can do to prep your lips for that final layer. Nothing is worse than wearing lipstick or stain over flaky, chapped or dry lips. The keys to soft, kissable lips are exfoliation and moisture. Making your own lip scrub is super easy and you can use ingredients you already have in your kitchen. Here are a few of my favorite recipes.
1. Honey Paste
What you'll need:
1 teaspoon of honey
1 teaspoon of baking soda
a few drops of olive oil
Small bowl and spoon
Mix the honey and baking soda into a paste in a small bowl and slather it on your lips. Leave it alone for a few minutes before gently rubbing your lips to remove any dead skin.
Finally, rinse your lips and apply a layer of olive oil to moisturize them.
2. Sugar Scrub
What you'll need:
2 tablespoons of white sugar
Honey
a few drops of olive oil
Small bowl and spoon
Start with a small bowl of the two tablespoons of sugar and add in honey by the teaspoon until it is thick and sticky. For extra moisture, add a few drops of olive oil to your concoction. Next, gently take a finger-full of the syrup and rub it on your lips. Make sure to get in the corners!
When you feel that you've covered your lips and rubbed them substantially, rinse and follow up with your favorite lip balm. (I love Burt's Bees Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil.)
3. Coconut Oil Scrub
What you'll need:
1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil
1 teaspoon of brown sugar
1 infant toothbrush or one with soft bristles
Small bowl and spoon
First, mix the brown sugar and coconut oil together in the small bowl until you've reached a paste-like consistency. Using your index and middle finger, cover your lips in the paste. In a circular motion, lightly brush your lips with the soft toothbrush. The bristles give a more advanced exfoliation than your finger.
Let the mixture sit for about two minutes before rinsing it off your lips. Apply a thin layer of coconut oil to your lips for lasting moisture.

Naturally Pink Lips : Home Remedies for Pigmented Lips
Hope you all are doing fabulous! Sorry for going missing for a week but we were just working on some technical issues of the website and now we are back. With a bang, hopefully! Today I thought of sharing some effective home remedies for pigmented lips. I shall elaborate on the causes of this in the coming articles.
To start with, water deficiency in the body causes skin pigmentation or pigmentation of the lips in general. So, ample water intake ensures riddance from pigmented lips. Water basically flushes of the toxins from the body.
Apart from this, here are some instant home remedies for pigmented lips.
• Rub some lime juice on your lips before going to bed and then coat on some lip balm. Do this on alternative day basis, do not do it on daily basis.
• Sunrays are the biggest enemy of your skin in general, and they do harm the lips too, so pat on some sunscreen (read: lip products having sunscreen on the lips).
• Simple, edible butter is a great moisturizer and this also helps in clearing pigmentation so just rub in some butter over your lips before going to bed, if you feel a bit *eeeky* about it you can have a lip balm over it.
• Apple cider vinegar is simply the best remedy for almost all skin and pigmentation issues, this works nice for pigmented lips too, take a cotton ball and dab on some apple cider vinegar before applying your lip balm.
• Bananas, yes you read it right. Mash up a ripe banana and add some honey and yogurt to it, no don’t eat it, apply it on your lips and let it be on for some time may be an hour or two and then wash away.
• Paste up some toothpaste on your lips early in the morning and before going to bed, I usually brush up my lips after or whilst brushing my teeth. :P This is a sure shot workable remedy.
• Mix honey and lemon juice and apply it on your lips and let it be there for some time. Wash it later.
• Honey and glycerin together also work wonders for lip pigmentation.
• Do not drink overly hot tea or coffee. In fact don’t eat anything which is extremely hot.
• Smoking cigarettes also get your lips to be pigmented.
• Rub yogurt on your lips.
• Exfoliate them with a sugar and edible oil scrub.
• Take a piece of papaya and rub it on your lips. This apparently cures lip pigmentation.
Other than these tips, eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. These are some of the home remedies for pigmented lips and most of them work!! The best it the toothpaste and brushing one!! Which is your best home remedy for pigmented lips?

3 Steps And One Product For The Perfect Matte Red Lips
I did a tutorial last week on holiday makeup in which I said I thought the look was be even better with a matte red lip as opposed to the glossy cranberry lip I featured. So I decided to look around for the best products to use to be able to do so. I was worried the look might be too labor intense to ever actually wear but what I found was surprisingly easy!
The Steps:
1. Prep: This time of year can be harsh on your lips, and since the look is so matte, dry lips can really ruin it. To avoid looking chapped, you want to prep your lips. Start by doing a soft scrub either with a honey/brown sugar mixture or by making tiny circles with your toothbrush. Next apply a coat of lip balm, something with a healing agent if your lips are really bad.
2. Line: Start by lining your lips, following the natural shape of your lips.
3. Fill: After lining your lip, use the same pencil to fill them in. Blot gently to blend the color. If you need to moisten your lips throughout the day or night, apply a dab of clear lip gloss or balm in the middle of your bottom lip then blot gently, this will restore moisture without ruining the look.
The great thing about this product, beside the price, is that it's waterproof so you won't have to reapply throughout the night. This sangria shade is a lovely deep red and perfect for the holidays.
Have you ever used lip liner as a lipstick? What do you think of matte red lips?

Lipstick
Set Your Lipstick: After you have applied your lipstick, hold a tissue over your lips and lightly dust translucent powder over the tissue. The powder will ever so lightly fall on your lips through the tissue, and it will set your lip color the same way it sets your makeup when you use it on your face.

How to Make Lips Pink With Natural Things
Whether you're just tired of reapplying your pink lipstick throughout the day or you're trying to restore your natural pink lip hue after drinking coffee, nature has various ways for you to get and maintain a natural pink shade of lips. With little effort and big results, you'll find your lips pretty in pink in no time.Things You'll Need
Beetroot juice
Red rose petals
Natural Chap Stick
Lemon juice
Instructions
1
Rub lemon juice onto your lips before bedtime to lighten your lips if you think they are too dark from drinking coffee, for instance. After applying lemon juice, wait until lips are dry and then moisturize your lips, as lemon juice can dry them out. Do this once a week.
2
Keep your lips moisturized, as healthy lips tend to be pinker and better-looking. Use a Chap Stick made of natural ingredients only, such as honey and beeswax. Apply before going to bed, so that your lips will stay moisturized overnight. Also wear this Chap Stick throughout the day, every day.
3
Use the age-old method of pinching your lips for a last-minute quick pink tint. This is the same method used with the cheeks for a quick "blush." Lightly pinch your lips with the pads of your fingers, not your nails, for a pink hue that will last about 10 minutes. This will only work in a case where you want to impress on-the-spot; it's not meant for long-lasting pinkness.
4
Rub beetroot juice on your lips prior to going to bed for a natural dye effect. Cut a piece of the beetroot and rub it on your lips for about five minutes. Be careful not to get the juice around your lip or on your chin area. Wash your hands thoroughly. Do this about three times a week, alternating between this and Step 5.
5
Grind some red rose petals into a cup until a visible liquid can be seen. Use this liquid as a natural dye on your lips before going to bed--on a different day than the beet root juice. Carefully rub the ground rose petals on your lips without getting anything around your lip or on your chin. Wash your hands thoroughly. Do this about three times a week, alternating between this and Step 4.
6
Maintain your pink lips by exfoliating them with a soft-bristle toothbrush once or twice a week before applying other items before bedtime. Rub the brush gently on your lips to remove dead skin and stains from coffee or tea. Create a weekly routine

10 Homemade Remedies for Chapped Lips
You might think that a chapped and flaky pout is a problem to contend with during only the winter months, but the warm summer weather can also leave you with lips that rival the Sahara – and not the Jolie-Pitt kind.
Hot weather can lead to dehydration and dryness of the lips. Not only do the lips dry up and crack, they also shrivel and wither – not a good look if you’re after some summer loving!
We’re all aware of the tried and tested methods of curing chapped lips, but should the world’s supply of chap stick ever dry up (it is possible) you need to make sure that you are prepared to tackle this most common of lip-afflictions.
The following 10 remedies for chapped lips are all grandma-approved and you probably have most of the ingredients lying around your house! As the saying goes, an old broom knows the dirty corners best!
1. Honey and Vaseline
The nutritional characteristics of honey make it an amazing antibacterial and healing agent and Vaseline is one of the best skin softeners and protectants. When you combine these two items you have a delicious home remedy to banish those chaps!
Firstly apply a generous coating of honey to lips. (You may be required to lick on occasion to avoid drizzling.)
Apply some Vaseline on top of the honey and leave for 10-15 minutes.
Remove using a damp cotton pad
Do this once a day for 2-5 days
2. Cucumber
Rubbing your lips with a slice of cucumber is another simple (and edible) remedy to keep lips supple and soft.
3. Rose Petals
Soak rose petals in raw milk for a few hours, mash up into a paste and apply to the lips to keep them pink and smooth. This helps the lips to retain their lost color.
4. Buff it up
Buff your lips gently with a mixture of olive oil, sugar and brown sugar. Rub the scrub gently over your lips for a few minutes before rinsing off with warm water. A sweet smothering for softer lips!
5. Lemon Ointment
Take 1 tsp lemon juice, 1 tsp glycerin, and 1 tsp Castor oil. Mix these to make an ointment. Apply the ointment to chapped lips every night for a pucker you can be proud of in the morning!
6. Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera is has amazing healing powers for chapped lips. It contains natural ingredients that can strengthen the thin protective oil layer covering the skin and heal the symptoms of dry lips. Apply Aloe Vera gel to chapped lips regularly, for a cooling and soothing effect.
7. Olive Oil
Olive Oil is a natural moisturizer and lubricant. As well as massaging it gently into chapped lips, you can also mix with water and take as a drink, for a natural cure working from the inside.
8. Water Therapy
It may sound obvious, but drinking lots of water is vital for re-hydrating dehydrated lips. A lack of water in the body is the main reason for chapped lips. Aim to drink 8 glasses a day for a healthy smile.
9. Flax Seed Oil
Flax seed oil has nourishing nutrients like fatty acids that sink into the spongy tissues of the lips, making them soft and plump. Rub flax seed oil gently onto dry lips for an instant softening effect.
10. Mustard Oil
Apparently mustard oil applied to the navel is one of the most effective remedies to get rid of dry lips! Old wives’ tales proclaim that one or two drops of mustard oil in the belly button at night will give you soft lips in the morning. In this case I’d suggest that a new brush sweeps clean…and there’s no fool like an old fool!

Homemade Winter Lip Balm
Mint Lip Balm : The often solid looking jar of coconut oil in my kitchen cupboard finds its way onto my skin through out the year as an easy, no fuss answer to needing a massage lotion or skin moisturizer. It melts at body temperature, and is also suitable as a shaving moisturizer, quite the kitchen multi-tasker.
In the hot summer, my small bedside jar of vanilla bean infused coconut oil became quite soft and liquid. This made it easier to apply to legs and arms and backs for warm scented rub downs.
For winter use, small amounts of the solid coconut oil can be melted down in the microwave and poured into small tins for use as a lip balm.
I scented this round with 1 drop of peppermint essential oil per 2 tsp of melted coconut oil. This amount provides a soft level of mint, that is milder than the mint in Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm. I think I shall try doubling the amount of mint next time to aim for that Burt’s mint tingle on my lips.
Chocolate Mint Lip Balm Adding a 1/4 tsp of cocoa powder to the hot melted 2 tsp of coconut oil, softens the mint aroma, and cushions it with day dreams of sipping hot chocolate. It’s a splendid combination! The resulting balm is colored in the pot, but doesn’t show any traces of color on the skin. Also, as the coconut oil cools, it crystallizes to produce a mottled white snowflake like clouding in the brown cocoa lip balm pots.
As coconut oil is easily seduced to liquid by body temperatures, I would caution one against carrying these tins around in their pockets, unless a secure tight lid is used.
Note- this shouldn’t be carried in your pocket
as it will melt to a liquid. Think of this balm as a bedside treat.
Additional flavors begging to be made with essential oils:
- lavender mint
- lemongrass
- cinnamon
- chocolate lavender (Valentine’s Day!)
- cocoa butter rose (Valentine’s Day!)
As with any body product made containing essential oils, go gentle if you are unfamiliar with a particular scent. You don’t want to accidentally make a body lotion that will sting and burn you.
… or maybe you do? If so, get your experimenting underway to unveil your creation in time for Valentine’s Day play!
