Many women use home remedies to try to achieve long, sweeping eyelashes. Apply a small amount to the inside of your wrist 24 hours before using any home remedy to make sure you are not allergic to any of the ingredients, and be careful not to get any of the substances into your eyes.

Petroleum Jelly
This inexpensive product, which has emollient and protective effects, is a mainstay of home remedies to increase eyelash length. First remove any eyeliner, eye shadow or mascara with a cotton ball, then apply petroleum jelly with a new mascara wand, or one that you have first cleaned well to remove any trace of the original product. Iloveindia.com recommends sleeping with the petroleum jelly on your eyelashes, but washing it off in the morning before you go about your day. For best results, repeat the treatment three times a week.

Green Tea
Natural Home Remedies recommends applying cool, unsweetened green tea to your lashes with a cotton ball to take advantage of green tea's beneficial properties. According to Whole Foods, green tea is rich in flavonoids, including epigallocatechin-3-gallate, which has potent antioxidant and health-supportive effects. As with all home remedies for eyelash growth, take care not to get the liquid into your eye, and rinse well with cool water if you do.

Olive Oil
From iloveindia.com comes the suggestion of using olive oil to help protect, condition and lengthen eyelashes. Apply at bedtime with a clean mascara brush. Keep the oil on overnight, then remove it in the morning with a gentle eye makeup remover; according to iloveindia, the olive oil can attract dirt and dust to your lashes.
Brushing and Caring For Eyelashes
To stimulate growth and promote healthy lashes, YGOY advises using a commercial professional eyelash brush to groom lashes twice a day. As with brushing your hair, this can help distribute natural oils along the length of your lashes. To avoid stress on your lashes and eye area, always remove eye makeup before going to bed. Good Evening World also cautions against wearing mascara for prolonged periods of time.

Lemon Olive Oil
Natural Home Remedies suggests enhancing the healthful properties of olive oil by soaking a lemon peel in a jar of oil for several days, then carefully applying the mixture to your lashes. Lemon is a mild natural antiseptic and antimicrobial agent, and may help promote healthier lashes.

Proper Diet
You can enrich your diet to make sure you are getting the right nutrients and vitamins to promote eyelash growth. Eyelashes are made of keratin, a type of protein, and can benefit from a diet that includes high-protein foods like meat, fish, chicken, soy and tofu. Vitamin A, essential to lash growth, is found in eggs, fish oil, and red, yellow and orange fruits, while citrus fruits, potatoes and tomatoes are rich in vitamin C, a potent antioxidant. Calcium, also essential for lashes, is found in milk, as well as in dark green leafy vegetables.

Eyelid Massage
Massaging your eyelids gently can increase blood flow and may stimulate growth of lashes, according to Grow Eyelashes. After washing your hands well, use the pads of your fingers to massage along your lids and lash line.

Homemade Under-Eye Dark Circle Cream

Few things make a person look more run down than dark circles under the eyes. Whether a symptom of fatigue, illness or genetics, these circles can be a source of embarrassment. Several treatments are available at department and drug stores. However, it is not always necessary to open up your wallet to treat this problem. Several effective treatments can often be found right in the home.

Almonds
There is a good reason that almond oil is often an ingredient in many skin care products. The almond has been revered for centuries for its nutritional and cosmetic purposes. A twice-daily application of sweet almond oil can soothe the skin under the eyes. It is well-absorbed by the skin, allowing the penetration of essential nutrients like vitamin E. It is also beneficial in that it helps to maintain the skin's moisture balance. Some people even concoct a remedy for dark circles by grinding raw almonds in a mortar and pestle, then combining the almond paste with skin-soothing milk. This mixture can be applied to the skin under the eyes to reduce darkness and puffiness.

Lemon and Tomato Juice Mixture
Lemons are often used in skin and hair products because of their natural bleaching properties. The skin-lightening power of lemon juice is often combined with tomato juice, which is naturally rich in vitamins A and C. This combination, applied twice daily, can be effective in alleviating dark circles under the eyes.

Cucumbers
The "cucumber on the eyes" image does seem a bit cliche, but there is a reason it is seen so often. Cucumbers have natural astringent properties. Their natural cooling abilities can be just the thing for tired, dark eyes. In addition to wearing the cucumber slices over the eyes, people sometimes blend cucumbers and refrigerate the liquid. This liquid can be applied to the eyes as is with a cotton ball or fortified with lemon juice and then applied.

How to Tweeze Your Eyebrows

A pair of well-groomed and shaped eyebrows makes all the difference to your looks. To get the perfect set of eyebrows, you don’t need to be a professional but you will have to follow some basic rules when you are grooming your eyebrows.

Eyebrow tweezers
Choosing a perfect setting for tweezing eyebrows
Use a regular mirror in conjunction with bright light. Light helps you have a good view at the extra hair. Once you do a few tweezes, step back and see the results from far, this avoids overdoing.

Tweeze your eyebrows after a hot shower

For less painful tweezing, try to tweeze the brows after you have taken a hot water bath. Hair follicles open up and hence pulling them out becomes easy and less painful.

Study the shape of your face
Know what type of eyebrows will suit your face – fuller, thicker or thin. The arch is an important part of the brows and care should be taken in shaping them; do not make it too high.

Choose the perfect tweezers

Choose right tweezers, a slant tip allows precision and helps to avoid accidentally pinching your skin while tweezing.
Use a creamy pencil to outline or create shape
Use a creamy white or black kohl pencil to outline the brows and mark the desired shape. Avoid the waxy ones, they clog the pores and stick to the hair.

Determining the shape
Shape is the most important feature in the tweezing process and here we shall show you how to determine the perfect shape for your eyebrows

Take a long pencil or a thin brush and line it along the side of the nose, the brow starts right above the tear duct.
Now, take the pencil/brush and with one end on the side of the nose and make a 45 degree angle.

The invisible line should go right through the pupil and the spot where the pencil hits the brows will be the highest spot and will determine the arch shape and position.

Place one end of the pencil at the nose line and the other end along the outer corner of the eye, both should meet the brow.
Keep in mind that perfect looking brows have a slight arch so do not make it unnaturally higher or very arched.

Brush the brows upwards with a brow brush/ toothbrush and see if you need to trim them. Join the spots and create the outline shape as per as your requirement, like in the picture below.

Pluck the hair on or outside the line, start from below the brow and later pluck the hairs above the brow.
You can trim if the hair is too long.
After tweezing, apply Aloe Vera gel to calm the skin. This also helps get rid of redness, if any.

Some additional tips:
Those who have gaps and uneven growth, can fill in using a dark brown eye shadow or use a brow kit to make your brows look more natural. Black looks unnatural, a shade lighter always helps.

Trimming should be done sparingly
To keep your brows in shape all day, use some brow gel or transparent mascara. Alternatively, take a bit of your usual hairspray and gently rub it over the brows to keep them in place.
Happy tweezing!

Prevent Puffy Eyes In The Morning

How many times have we awakened only to be scared of our own image when we first look in the mirror because our eyes look like some monster from a horror film? Dark skin with puffy and swollen eyes can force our morning routine to be longer, harder, and more stressful as we race to make ourselves look rested and refreshed.
What causes puffy eyes and how can we reduce puffy eyes? Consider these tips to prevent puffy eyes in the morning so that your day can begin perfectly rather than puffy!

Causes of Puffy Eyes

Puffy eyes, which are the swelling of the eyelids and/or the skin under the eyes, can be caused by many different issues. Because the skin around the eye is filled with blood vessels and is very thin, it is very delicate and sensitive to many factors. Genetics, stress, lack of sleep, crying, water retention, allergies, and hormone changes can all cause puffy eyes in the morning.

All of these issues can cause those tender blood vessels to swell and become inflamed. While we may not be able to rid ourselves of any or all of these issues, we can definitely try some tricks to alleviate their result of puffy and swollen eyes.

How to Reduce Puffy Eyes

Even though we cannot change our genetics, we can try our best to make sure that we take care of ourselves. Although easier said than done, try to get at least 6-8 hours of sleep each night. This will always reduce the amount of swelling and help to prevent puffy eyes in the morning. Placing an ice pack or cold compress on puffy eyes for just a few minutes or washing the eye area with cold water will also greatly reduce swelling and puffiness.

If allergies are the culprit, try to find the best over-the-counter allergy medication for you or speak with your doctor if those medications do not seem to work. Also, always make sure to remove all eye make-up before you retire for the evening, which will prevent possible irritation.

Finding a really good eye cream for puffiness is a wonderful method to prevent puffy eyes in the morning. Make sure the cream is specifically formulated to treat puffy eyes and / or dark circles and is gentle enough for the eye area.

In addition, you can actually make puffy eyes disappear with the perfect concealer. Look for concealers that will warm your skin. Finally, mask those puffy eyes by applying eyeliners and mascara only on the upper lash line. This will draw attention away from the puffiness.

Waking up to puffy and swollen eyes can wreak havoc on anyone's morning. However, finding the cause of puffy eyes will give you the answers you need to reduce the puffiness and swelling. Using these tips to alleviate and prevent puffy eyes in the morning can give that radiant, rested, and refreshed look that we all need for the day!

5 Ways to Lengthen Eyelashes Naturally

You know those eyelashes lengthening products that promise to lengthen your lashes but will potentially darken your irises permanently? Yikes. Those scare me. No thanks. However, there are a ton of home remedies out there to try that may naturally lengthen your lashes!

1. Oils

Olive oil and castor oil are both said to lengthen your lashes when applied with a clean mascara wand and left on overnight. Whichever you have on hand should do the trick. After 2-3 months of consistent application you should start to see fuller, longer and healthier lashes. To optimize your results, add lemon peel to your oil. You’ll want to let your lemon and oil infuse for about a week before using.

2. Brush your lashes

Brushing your lashes with a soft bristled lash brush daily may stimulate growth. You’ll never want to brush them harshly or for more than 10 minutes as that could result in your lashes falling out. Keep up this routine until you start to see the growth you are looking for.

3. Petroleum Jelly

Petroleum Jelly (Vaseline) applied to lashes with a clean lash comb or mascara wand will help moisturize your lashes and help them to appear thicker and healthier. The increased moisture may help stimulate the follicles and help those lashes grow!

4. Vitamins

The same way vitamins, like biotin or Hair Skin and Nails, can help your hair to grow faster and healthier, they can also help to grow your eyelashes too!

5. Coconut Oil

If you haven’t tried coconut oil on your hair, you’ve got to! It makes it so soft and shiny, and somehow it makes my blond hair brighter! While you are at it, apply it to your lashes. You can melt it (which should only take a few seconds in the microwave) into a liquid and apply it with a clean mascara wand or a cotton ball. Keep it out of your eyes, and don’t apply it while it’s still hot from melting.

Natural Home Remedy to Baggy Eyes

Baggy eyes in the morning are a common problem. The reason for the problem is a combination of thin skin and fluids gathering beneath your eyes while you sleep. In kids, the problem usually goes away pretty fast, but it can linger on as you get older. Here's what you can do if you wake up in the morning with bags under your eyes.

Use a Cold Compress

Cold compresses are a good first reaction and may work pretty quickly. All you need is water, a cloth and your freezer. Simply wet the cloth until it is damp and let it chill in the freezer while you have a cup of green tea. The cloth should not be hard or heavy. Lean back in a recliner or chair, but don't lie down. Gravity helps the fluids to move away from your head and eyes. Place the cloth over your eyes. Give it at least 15 minutes.

Drinking the green tea is another trick that can help. The small amount of caffeine won't make you jittery, but it will act as a diuretic. Diuretics help rid your body of excess fluids. The antioxidants may also improve the strength of your blood vessels and promote good fluid circulation.

Use Sliced Cucumbers

Some sources say that sliced cucumbers work better than a regular cold compress. If the cucumber has been in your fridge, then the slices should work as a cold compress and may also provide other benefits.

Cucumbers contain antioxidants that may promote fluid circulation. So, if you have a cucumber handy, give it a try.

Use an Eye Cream with Decongestant Activity

The better eye creams contain the ingredients HALOXYL and EYELISS. The two formulas work together to significantly reduce bags. With regular use, a good eye cream may prevent the problem all together. If you need to look your best today and you woke up with baggy eyes, I suggest using the cold compress first and then applying a good eye cream after you shower.

Use a Face Cream with Natural Anti-Inflammatory Activity

The regular use of a face cream with natural anti-inflammatory activity can improve the function of the tiny blood vessels beneath the skin, keeping the fluids moving instead of allowing them to pool up under the thin skin beneath the eyes.

Many natural ingredients have some anti-inflammatory activity. Most antioxidants do. But one of the most effective natural anti-inflammatories is a formula called Xtend-TK. It has been shown to block inflammation before it starts. Whenever fluids gather beneath the skin, the condition can be described as inflammation.

Take Fish Oil on a Regular Basis

Fish oil is a popular dietary supplement with many proven benefits. If you have baggy eyes on most mornings, your problem may be caused by poor circulation and chronic inflammation. Fish oil helps to improve circulation. One of its best known benefits is to the cardiovascular system where it works to lower fats in the bloodstream that make the blood thicker and harder to circulate.

The better fish oils also have proven anti-inflammatory activity. One capsule might not get rid of your morning bags, but with regular use, the supplement could keep you from having the problem.

Soothing Cucumber Eye Gel

As I approach the big 3-0, I’m noticing just how much less money I’m spending on happy hour drinks and instead allocating towards a good skincare regimen. I can tell you that, in the last year, I’ve moisturized approximately 250% more than any other year of my life. While I welcome and embrace proof of the time passing on my face, I know that aging gracefully and responsibly means treating my largest organ (my skin) the right way.

But the thing is, the right way doesn’t need to be expensive when you can use nature’s bounty to treat your skin. This eye gel recipe is easy and inexpensive, using the anti-inflammatory properties of the cucumber. Cucumbers, in addition to being alkaline-packed powerhouses in the juicer, are high in Vitamin C. Puffy, swollen skin will soak that stuff right up. Let me show you how easy this is.

Ingredients

4 oz aloe vera gel

1/2 large cucumber, washed, peeled, and cut into cubes

Blend the cucumber with an immersion blender or in a food processor until liquid. Strain the juice of the cucumber through a fine sieve and set aside.

Place the aloe vera gel in a small bowl and mix in 2 tbsp cucumber juice. Whisk well until combined and pour into bottle. Shake gently and place in the fridge to chill for 1 hour before using. Shelf life is 3 months (in the refrigerator).

Apply under and around the eyes before bed.

HOW TO TIGHTLINE EYES

Tight-lining your eyes (also known as the "invisible eye liner") is a great way to add a subtle definition to your eyes. Instead of lining the skin above your lashes, you line between the lash line. This method is perfect for any casual or fancy occasion, and is super easy to master. Keep reading to learn how to tight-line your eyes with a pencil or gel eye liner!

HOW TO Tight-line Eyes with Pencil or Gel Eye Liner
Using clean fingers, gently lift your lashes upward (this step is only necessary if you find it easier to tight-line). You'll see tiny gaps between your lash hairs, which you'll be filling in with eye liner.

Using either a gel or pencil eye liner, lightly dab the eye liner in between each individual lash (as close to the root as possible), to fill in your lash line and make it look fuller. Start at the the inner and work to the outer corner of your eye. Congratulations, you've officially tight-lined your eyes!
To intensify the look, tightline your bottom lash line as well. It's the same concept as the top, but you'll be filling in the space between your lower lashes.

Beautylish Tip: Make sure any eye product you use near your eye is clean. Not sure how to clean your eye liners?

Use this on puffy under eyes and fine lines around your eyes or anywhere on your face. Wash, peel, and grind half of a cucumber. Squeeze out the juice and apply to problem areas. Let it dry before rinsing with plain water.

All of these natural oils will help keep your skin looking great.

8. Water :- When you get dehydrated, your skin will not look as good as it should. Try to drink 8 to 10 8-ounce glasses of water every day to stay hydrated. Not only does water help keep your skin firm, but it also flushes toxins from your body.

Mask 2: Here is another excellent and easy homemade beauty treatment that can boost the growth of your eyelashes, making them thicker and longer: mix castor oil, burdock oil and aloe vera juice (one tea spoon of each), add couple of drops of liquid vitamin A and E, then, place this mixture into a clean tube (you can use a clean tube form an old mascara) and apply it on your lashes every evening before bed. Make sure to avoid all contact with the mucous membrane of the eye, because it can cause irritation. You can wipe away the excess of product using a cotton pad.

If you wonder how to make your eyebrows grow – you can use the same natural treatments for this purpose

(When using homemade beauty treatments, make sure you are not allergic to the ingredients).

Get The Celebrity Look: Smoky Eyes

Smoky eyes are not limited to the red carpet. Get a star gaze in five easy steps with our tips.

To copy the bevy of celebs sporting smoldering, smoky eyes on the red carpet, stay away from blue hues - which can make you look like you have under-eye circles, says Giorgio Armani makeup artist André Drykin. Instead, go for black, gray, brown or if you want "color," dark green shadows and liners. Then, follow these steps:

1. Apply a cream concealer over your eyelid to create a smooth base for your eyeshadow.

2. Use a pencil liner (black or gray looks best) to trace your top lashline from the inner corner to the outer. Then, use the same pencil to dot between your lower lashes. Smudge both lashlines with a cotton swab or an eyeliner brush.

3. Sweep powder shadow (brown, gray and dark green all work with black or gray liner) over your lid and into your crease, blending the color up and outward, says New York City makeup artist Morgen Schick DeMann.Marie Claire recommends: Morgen Stained Glass Eye Wash in Spruce; Shiseido The Makeup Eye Shadow Brush; Cover Girl Perfect Blend Pencil in Basic Black; Origins Full Story Lush-Lash Mascara in Black.

TIP: To prevent color from fading and give your lids a more shimmery finish, pat a cream shadow over the concealer on your lid first, wait five minutes, then top with a matching powder shadow.

4. Dust a lighter, neutral eyeshadow (such as ivory) over just your browbone.

5. Finish with two coats of black mascara.
