King Prawn Fajitas

A fresh take on making Fajitas using king prawns and a crunchy coleslaw.

Ingredients

500g raw peeled King prawns
1 large onion, sliced
1 red and 1 orange pepper, sliced
2 tbsp oil
1 sachet Discovery Fajita Seasoning Mix

To serve:

Discovery Chilli and Jalapeño Tortillas,
Discovery Salsa, shredded Iceberg, coleslaw


Method

Coat prawns, onion and peppers in oil and seasoning.

Heat a heavy based frying pan until very hot.
Add prawns and vegetables and cook over high heat for just cooked and browned.

Serve with warm Tortillas, Salsa, lettuce and coleslaw

Soak some petals of rose in raw milk. After an hour crush these petals and add ½ tbsp of honey and some saffron. Apply this mixture on your lips and let it stay for 15 minutes. Practice this twice in a day.

10. Olive Oil
Olive oil helps in softening and moisturizing your lips. It contains lots of essential nutrients that can make your lips beautiful.

Massage your lips with virgin olive oil. Practice this every night.
Make a natural scrub by mixing sugar with olive oil. Scrub this mixture on your lips to make it lighter. Practice this every week for a couple of months.

11. Sugar
Sugar is a good exfoliating material that can help you in removing all the dead skin cells from your lips.

Make a mixture of granulated sugar (3 tbsp) and butter (2 tbsp). Use this as a natural scrub and gently exfoliate your lips. Practice this remedy once in a week.

13. Berries

Make a mixture of raspberry juice (1/2 tbsp), honey and Aloe Vera gel. Scrub it on your lips for few minutes. Wash it off after 10 minutes with some warm water. Repeat this thrice in a week.
Make a mixture of strawberry juice (1 tbsp) and petroleum jelly (2 tbsp). Apply it on your lips 2 times in a day.

14. Honey
Honey can make your lips moist and pinkish.

Every night apply a little honey on your lips. Rinse it off in the morning using some warm water. This can definitely lighten the color of your lips.
Make a mixture of gram flour, honey and yogurt (1/2 tbsp each). Apply this mixture on your lips and let it remain for half an hour and then wash it off with warm water. Practice this on a regular basis to get the desired results.

15. Honey And Almond Oil
Mix honey (1 tbsp) and almond oil (1 tbsp) and rub it on your lips. Leave it on for half an hour before rinsing it off. You can repeat this remedy thrice in a day to get the desired results.
16. Cream And Rose Petals

Crush some rose petals and make a fine paste. Add some milk cream and honey to this paste and apply it on your lips. Let it remain for 20 minutes before rinsing it off with milk. Following that, cleanse your lips with water.
This remedy can help you to exfoliate your lips and also in making it lighter and reddish.

17. Lemon And Turmeric
Make a mixture of lime juice and turmeric powder and apply it on your lips. Let it remain for about 10 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water.

How to make Garam Masala at Home

Garam Masala, that essential Indian spice mix is much, much easier to make at home than you think.

So, garam masala is a warming (not spicy) spice mix and can be used as a cooking ingredient, like a curry powder and also and more importantly, to add a final flourish to your finished dish, just before or after turning the heat off.

Each cook will have a different recipe for his or her garam masala, so you see, the advantage of making your own is not only will you be getting a potent, fresh blend but you’ll also be getting one tailored to your taste!

More nutmeg, less nutmeg, more cinnamon, less cinnamon, it really is a matter of taste; but one does of course need to be a little sensible here and not pile one ingredient in next to minuscule portions of others!

Now, another thing that I do is also to make up my garam masala mix according to the recipe I intend to use it in. For example, if I plan to use it for Biryani, I add some organic dried rose petals to the mix, as it enhances the overall aroma and flavour, because of course, garam masala is really a natural flavour enhancer, isn’t it?

Technically, your garam masala should keep in a clean jar in a cool place for months, like any other spice you have. However, just like all those spices, it’s potency will decrease the longer you keep it. So, I would suggest making little and often.

Garam Masala

Ingredients

seeds of 10 cardamom pods
1 black cardamom
2 bay leaves
half tsp black peppercorns
1 tbsp cumin
1 tbsp coriander
5cm/2in piece cinnamon
1 tsp cloves
a tiny piece of nutmeg
Optional Extras
dried ginger
organic dried rose petals
mustard seeds
fennel seeds
Instructions

Dry roast all the ingredients in a frying pan on low heat for a couple of minutes. You know it's done when a strong, lovely aroma hits your nose, not a burnt one.
Transfer to a plate and let cool immediately.
Place in a food processor and blitz to a fine powder.
Store in a clean jar, in a cool place like all your other spices.
Notes

Your garam masala will keep for months but like any other spice, its potency starts lessening with age. To make more, just double or triple the quantities. Have fun experimenting and making your own mix.

Cabbage : 2 cups
Coriander seeds : 1 Tablespoon
Channa dal + Urid dal  : 2 Tablespoons (each 1 tablespoon).
Red chilly powder : 2 Teaspoons
Green chilly : 1
Mustard sees : 1 Teaspoon
Jeera /cumin seeds : 1/2 Teaspoon
Salt : Required
Curry leaves : 6 to 8
Coriander leaves : 2 Tablespoons
Coconut : 2 Tablespoons (optional).
Lemon : 1 Teaspoon
Method :
1. Dry roast channa dal, urid dal and coriander seeds. Dry grind them once they are cool.
2. Wash and cut cabbage into thin and keep it aside. Wash and cut green chilly.
3. Grate coconut and keep it aside.
4. Keep a pan on the fire and heat. Add oil and mustard sees. Let it splutter.

5. Add cumin/jeera and fry for 10 seconds. Add cut green chilly and curry leaves.
6. Add cut cabbage and fry nicely on low flame. Let it cook for 2 to 3 minutes.

7. Add turmeric powder and salt. Mix it well.
8.  Let all the moisture disappear from the vegetable. Add powdered spices.

9. Mix it well and fry for 10 seconds.

10.Add grated coconut and lemon extract. Add coriander leaves and mix it well.
11. Now shift the ready curry to a serving bowl.

12. Serve with the main dish as you wish to.
Note :
No need to add more oil. Do the whole process on the low flame. Do not allow it get burnt. Adding coconut is optional. You can also add ground nuts powder along with other spice.(channa dal, urid dal and coriander seeds). Adding onions or garlic is optional.You can add a tablespoon of rasam powder and a tablespoon of chutney powder (any brand) instead of home made fresh spice powder.

The right way to train Puppy for house training

The arrival of a new puppy is cause for great excitement in any household. It soon becomes clearly apparent that puppy house training is an urgent priority and the number one thing to teach our new housemates.

You'll find lots of puppy house training articles and theories across the net and in books everywhere, but I'm pleased to say that I've got a method that has never let me down. The potty training technique I have come to rely on and trust requires a fair degree of commitment to begin with but the rewards are quick and last forever. My veterinarian first told me about this potty training method which could be summed up as follows:

Closely monitor your puppy to prevent messy mistakes, enthusiastically reward desired behavior every time, and if a mistake happens work out where you went wrong.

Puppy House Training - General Rules

Owning a puppy is a big commitment for all family members, especially in the first few days and weeks.
Puppy potty training is not a race, the key is to prevent mistakes and establish good habits early - dogs are creatures of habit. puppy house training
From your dogs point of view there is no right or wrong place to go to the toilet, they feel like going and just do it. It is our job to clearly communicate and reinforce where it is acceptable to eliminate and also where it is not acceptable.
Opening your back door every couple of hours to let your puppy out will not house train your puppy.
A puppy's natural instinct is to keep their bedding/sleeping area clean - the potty training method outlined below utilizes this knowledge to our advantage.
No matter how attentive and diligent you are in the house training process there is bound to be the odd slip up. Don't worry about it just ensure that you clean mistakes up thoroughly, including the use of an odor neutralizer to take away any lingering smell.
My puppy house training strategy involves close supervision and confinement to start with but only so we can allow our puppies greater freedom and much sooner.
Understand your puppy's capabilities and be realistic, keep in mind you are dealing with a very young animal. Young puppies can only hold on for so long before they need to go, they don't have much control early on. As a general rule a puppy can hold on an hour for every month of his/her age, plus another hour. This means that a 2 month old puppy can be expected to hold on for three hours and at 3 months old this same pup could be expected to hold on for four hours at a time.
Develop a dog food and water schedule. Each day feed at the same time (never close to bed time) and take away your dogs water bowl before you go to bed (don't forget to put it back first thing in the morning!). You'll develop a routine this way and "what goes in on schedule comes out on schedule", if you know what I mean...

Mix egg white, olive oil and honey well to make the egg hair mask. Apply this mask on your scalp. Cover your hair too. Let it sit there for about 15-20 minutes. Wash off with mild shampoo and water.

Lavender essential oil for Treatment of Dandruff:

Lavender essential oil can help you get rid of dry itchy scalp and dandruff. If you are suffering from dandruff, you can mix 15 drops of lavender essential oil with 2 tablespoons of olive or almond oil and heat the mixture for about 10 seconds. Massage your scalp with this warm oil and put on a shower cap. Wash off with a mild shampoo after an hour.
